Counties Manukau Badminton Association (CMBA) is seeking applications for THREE appointed board members.


About Counties Manukau Badminton Association

CMBA is the regional governing body for the sport of badminton in the south of Auckland, covering areas from Otahuhu and Flat Bush in the north, to Pukekohe and Waiuku in the south. CMBA operates as a non-profit organisation.

Badminton is a sport experiencing significant growth in the South Auckland region. With increased participation, memberships, and programmes in schools and community groups, the number of people playing badminton has never been greater. It’s a game for all ages, genders, ethnicities, and abilities.

Our vision is to deliver an enriching badminton experience for everyone, for life. Our purpose is to create opportunities for our community to thrive in badminton. We are guided by our values of collaboration, courage, excellence, enjoyment, and care.


What We Are Looking For

We are seeking individuals who will add value with skills or experiences in the following areas:

  • Passion for Badminton: Passionate about badminton, sport, your community, or just making a positive impact.
  • Professional Skills: Expertise in Marketing, Non-Profit Funding, Legal, or Building Construction.
  • Personal Integrity: High personal integrity, collaborative, creative, and capable of driving positive change.
  • Strategic Thinking: Ability to think strategically and provide direction, aligning with our vision.
  • Stewardship: Demonstrate care and responsibility in the stewardship and future wellbeing of the organisation.
  • Governance and Leadership: Understanding of good governance and leadership.

Board Commitments

These board positions are voluntary roles with the opportunity to make a significant difference in the sport of badminton.

  • Term: Appointment to a board position is for two years, with the option to stand for further term(s).
  • Meetings: The board meets approximately ten times per year, through a mixture of in-person and online meetings. Board members are expected to prepare for and attend these meetings, and occasionally participate in sub-committee meetings or a strategic planning day.
  • Time Commitment: Expected time commitment is around 3-4 hours per month.
